SDH is an optical transmission technology standard for building high-speed networks with outstanding reliability by multiplexing lines in a layered fashion. In particular, it includes excellent backup functions known as SDH Ring Protection to protect against line faults. Should a fault occur, the route is switched instantaneously to eliminate any effect on traffic.
